    5. I have seen dried items in Wal-Mart up in Tualatin Oregon but nowhere else. You would think they would stock it in the southern states where hurricanes happen. But, Nope they don't.

  5. What a great list - thank you. Also a couple quick questions, how are you sealing these up? Are you using a vacuum sealer or just putting lids on? I live in a humid climate, should I be concerned about how long they are stored or do anything special to prevent the humidity from causing problems? Thanks!

    1. Vacuum sealing should take care of the moisture, but also I keep the dessicant from bottles of aspirin, etc. since it is food grade and use those in dry mixes. You can also buy food grade dessicant packs.

    2. Vacuum seal them with the jar attachment from your food saver or use a oxygen absorber Should stay fresh for 7- 10 Years.

  6. I personally do these in Food Saver bags. I print out directions and put them in the bag with the dry ingredients face out so it works as a label to. Easier to store in bulk and you don't have to worry about breakage. :)

    1. for meals in jars you would want to use mylar bags with oxygen absorbers

  7. I have not yet done these but for the sauces I am going to use larger quart sized jars with the Food Saver sealed tops so I can get in and get what I need and reseal them. For the full meals from here and Dinners in the Jar along with other meals I have found, they will go in food safe mylar bags with oxygen absorbers and the instructions will go on the outside in either plastic self adhesive packets or on stickers.

I love the look of the jars but they can break, they are heavy and expensive. For under $30 I have enough bags and oxygen absorbers to put up 90 days worth of food.

  11. Finding some of the powdered products may be hard in some areas of the country. Amazon.com carries a number of powdered items; they are just not this particular brand. In East Texas, we have a recently opened store that is a "world market" type store. I have a lot of success at finding unusual items at it.

P.s. How long does this mason jar stuff last? Does temperature affect the goods inside the mason jar? Does time in the jar affect the contents?
